ATLANTA, GA - Jus` Blues Music Foundation, Inc. proudly presents its Fifth Annual “Blues Holiday Extravaganza,” Saturday, December 27th at 8 pm at the Fork & Juniper Restaurant in the Hyatt Midtown Atlanta located on 125 10th Street, NE at Peachtree Street. Guests will be treated to live entertainment by International Recording Artist aka the 1st Lady of Blues & Soul, Trudy Lynn, who just completed her 2014 European tour. To keep the party moving, dance music will be provided by great DJ entertainment.
The Blues & Soul music community is cordially invited to attend and celebrate our pre-New Year’s gathering. The Jus` Blues Music Foundation’s “Blues Holiday Extravaganza” will be a great opportunity to network and party with like others and professionals in the Blues & Soul music industry. Advance tickets are $25.00. V.I.P. tables and a special Jus’ Blues food menu are available. Additionally, we’ve arranged a special Jus’ Blues room rate for those who wish to stay at the Hyatt overnight.
BIOGRAPHY OF TRUDY LYNN
Trudy was born Lee Audrey Nelms in the Fifth Ward of Houston, Texas. Her professional singing career began in the mid-1960s, when she sang with Blues guitarist Albert Collins and Clarence Green. She also sang with a group called The Rhythmaires. In the 1970s, Lynn once opened for Ike & Tina Turner while expanding her performing base from clubs in Houston, to regional work to festivals around the world.
Lynn's recording career started in 1989, when Atlanta based Ichiban Records released the first of five albums she recorded for them. Her debut, Trudy Sings the Blues, included her cover version of "Ball 'n' Chain." It reached Number 76 in the US Billboard R&B albums chart. The following year, Come to Mama also peaked at Number 76 in the Billboard charts. Her 1999 release, U Don't Know What Time It Is, issued by Ruf Records and released to rave reviews, included input from phenomenal Blues musicians like Lucky Peterson on keyboards and Bernard Allison on guitar. Her live album, Blues Power: Trudy's Blues (2004) had guitar work by Carl Weathersby. I'm Still Here, released in May 2006 was recorded with the Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra. I'm Still Here was nominated for a Blues Music Award in 2007 in the 'Best Soul Blues Album' category. Lynn has acquired several Jus’ Blues Music Awards for Best Traditional Blues Artist – Female.
Trudy’s current project, “Royal Oaks Blues Café” have critics announcing her best work ever as it has reached the Number 1 spot on Billboard’s Blues Album category. This year, Lynn was nominated for the 'Koko Taylor Award’ (Traditional Blues Female) in the Blues Foundation’s Music Awards.
