Let's Make A Change
Blues Got A Soul – Mission Statement
Blues Got A Soul is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young minds by teaching them the rich history, cultural significance, and enduring legacy of the Blues—America’s original folk art form. Our mission is to ensure that new generations understand, appreciate, and carry forward this vital musical heritage.
Our Core Commitments
Educating and Inspiring Youth
We introduce young people to the history, artistry, and cultural impact of the Blues, helping them build pride, awareness, and creative confidence.
Connecting Students with Working Artists
JBMF-sponsored artists visit preschools, K–12 classrooms, and college campuses to meet students, share their stories, and demonstrate the power of Blues and Soul music through live engagement.
Mentorship and Personal Guidance
We cultivate meaningful mentorship opportunities where JBMF artists guide students one-on-one, nurturing their artistic growth and personal development.
Our Impact
For more than a decade, the Blues Got A Soul Education Program has enriched the lives of youth ages 8–17, offering them access to music history, artistic expression, and mentorship. Adult learners have also benefited through our annual Technology Conference held during the Jus’ Blues Music Awards, expanding their skills and professional opportunities.
Why This Work Matters
Economic challenges often limit access to music education, instruments, and performance opportunities—especially for children and aspiring young musicians. Many students possess extraordinary talent but lack the resources, teachers, or outlets needed to develop their gifts. Blues Got A Soul helps bridge that gap by providing education, exposure, and support rooted in cultural heritage.
