The 2024 Jus’ Blues Music Awards Conference Concludes with a Fabulous Finale
Biloxi, MS – The 2024 Jus’ Blues Music Awards Conference (JBMAC) held at the IP Casino, Resort & Spa from July 31st through August 3rd, wrapped up leaving attendees inspired and energized. This year's JBMAC brought together a diverse group of musicians, industry professionals, and music enthusiasts for a series of enlightening sessions and performances.
Jus’ Blues 24th annual Awards Show and Conference constantly continues to honor and acknowledge the body of work of many African-American performers and industry executives popular to America’s chitlin’ circuit, as well as Blues concerts and festivals around the world. Jus’ Blues Honoree Awards were given to Diunna Greenleaf, Jimmy Burns, Zakiya Hooker, Lil’ Jimmy Reed, Sheryl Youngblood, Stephen Hull, Willie Hill, Loretta Harris-Wilson, Anthony ‘Big A’ Sherrod, Loretta ‘Jazzii A’ Anderson, Arthur Adams, Vick Allen, and posthumously Libby Anthony.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet and greet with the honorees and the multitude of artists in attendance as well as participate in networking events designed to foster collaboration and innovation within the Blues and Soul music community.
Highlights of the awards conference included Performances. The 2024 Jus’ Blues Music Awards Show had electrifying performances by established artists like; Willie Clayton, Trudy Lynn, Theodis Ealey, Ms. Jody, Gaye Adegbalola, Benny Latimore, and several of the legendary honorees including Lil’ Jimmy Reed, Willie Hill, Jimmy Burns and Diunna Greenleaf. Emerging talents Stephen Hull and Big A Sherrod showcased their diverse sounds and styles and earned ovations as they mesmerized the audience with their artistry and true affection for traditional Blues. Jus’ Blues Honoree Morgan Freeman’s club Ground Zero Biloxi hosted the location for the Jus’ Blues Wrap Party.
Workshops: The Blues Got A Soul Technology Masterclass covered the use of AI in music, the influence of women in the Blues yesterday and today, utilizing music in political campaigns and the origins of America’s first Black owned record label. Speakers included Attorney Jonathan Mason, Music Specialist Allen Johnston and Blues Artist Gaye Adegbalola. Blues Got A Soul is Jus’ Blues flagship program designed to involve students giving them an education in the art of the Blues.
Founder and CEO Charles Mitchell said, "We are thrilled with the success of this year's conference. The level of engagement and enthusiasm from all participants was truly remarkable. The attendees got to connect, share ideas, and hopefully build some lasting relationships.
